Colors Shapes Movements

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), an iconic landmark in Seoul designed by Zaha Hadid, is hosting a mesmerizing new exhibition by French-Swiss artist Felice Varini. Known for his large-scale optical illusion installations, Varini transforms everyday spaces into dynamic artworks that shift with the viewer's perspective.

Colors Shapes Movements features four new site-specific works along DDP's spiraling Design Dullegil, where geometric forms and vivid colors evolve as visitors move through the space. This unique exhibition invites guests to engage with art in motion, capturing fleeting moments of perfect alignment while exploring the fluid relationship between perception, space, and structure.

I won’t spoil it all for you — go take loops at the DDP. Make sure to always look backwards from where you walked to see different geometric patterns. Felice Varini really made great use of the weaving space.

I just had to include the statue outside the DDP as I left for the day—a human figure with a clenched behind. There’s another statue depicting Ddong Chim, a prank that involves poking someone's buttocks with pointed fingers.

I think it's a playful take on being wary of it happening to you.
