Café Co. R
카페 코르
There’s something inviting about boxes
We put things in boxes all the time. If you think about it, we ourselves are placed into some sort of box every day. It could be your home, your workplace, or maybe you limit yourself by putting yourself in a box. Whatever the case may be, we can’t escape them — something so basic and familiar carries a natural gravity that is hard to explain.
Just a few minutes walking distance from Hongik Station, Café Co. R is like a glowing candle in the dim winter pathway. A massive rectangular sheet of glass slides open after you tap on (you guessed it) a rectangular switch. These details are exhaustively meticulous thanks to the studio behind it’s design, Creative Studio Unravel.
I want you to know that the name of this café is actually pronounced 'Café Core' (코르). They have writing on their glass that reads:
“Immerse yourself in this space decked with color (so apparently they change the lights in here to other hues) and music. A sip of our cofee and your day will be just complete”.
And this is why I’m sure it’s called 'Co. R' or “core” — because it’s essential to your day."
It felt poetic to take photos of the staff (possibly the owners) as they photographed their products—each of us living in our own worlds, in our own boxes. (OK, we can stop here.)
Probably the coolest exits out of a bathroom in Seoul.
