7,000 bricks for seating?

An atrium-style, independently owned café offers incredible lighting with a unique brick-laid interior. Studio Maoom (likely named after '마음'—which means 'heart' in Korean) built a 7,000-brick mound in the middle of the café floor. It slopes upward, pointing toward the skylight, while also sloping downward to cleverly tuck away a bathroom.

The brick mound is inviting as a place to sit, or walk through to relieve yourself from the latte you just downed 10 minutes ago.

The café is named “Nap Roasters” with the philosophy of offering coffee as a moment of restful pause 💤 (Awake). I personally enjoyed sitting right next to the entry, where I had a good view of the counter and could passively people-watch while working on my computer.

There’s certainly something restful about a space that invites you to wander freely—designed for exploration rather than rushing you to a table where you’re expected to mind your own business.

Between sips, I observed a gentleman intensely reviewing some papers, his dog napping by the wall, while another group brought social dogs that struggled to pause their yapping for attention.

The barista would calmly glance around, seemingly asking the owners to quiet their dogs — but with the warmest smile. They had three roasts to choose from. I chose the medium roast. It felt just right for an early afternoon coffee.
