I didn’t mean to find this

I was originally looking for the Komfortabel Café but mistakenly entered Comfort, assuming it was an alternate name for the same place. However, Comfort is a completely different establishment (right next door!) with multiple floors: a retail store, an exhibition space (which was closed), and a stylish café with a metal, cool-toned aesthetic that serves fantastic tea and tiramisu.

Designed by the architecture firm Boundless, the building was actually created to connect two roads separated by a cliff. You can start at Duteopbawi-gil and make your way up to the terrace and onto Sowol-gil.

I wish I had pulled out my 18mm to take pictures of the building façade, it’s quite a spectacle.

Outside, the stone architecture gives the building an organic and rugged feel that stands out amid the urban landscape. Inside, the design shifts to an industrial, modern vibe with metal cladding and expansive windows that provide the space with natural light. The interior walls feature graffiti stars and tagging—elements that appear to extend from the café’s retail brand—adding an edgy, artistic twist to the otherwise sleek, minimalist setting.

I enjoyed chamomile tea with tiramisu. I thought the display of the tiramisu was interesting — it reminded me of the cliff the café sits on.

It was funny to realize that I was at the wrong café as I was taking a bite of my tiramisu and looking over at the neighboring building. That's the lovely part of Seoul—you'll come across delightful surprises along the way to your original destination.
